How to convert CSV to EXCEL

CSV files store tabular data as plain text with values separated by commas. They are widely used for data exports from databases, CRMs, and analytics tools, but they do not support formatting, multiple sheets, or formulas. Converting a CSV to Excel (.xlsx) gives you a proper spreadsheet you can sort, filter, and style in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.

BoltConverter handles the conversion on its servers and preserves your data exactly. Each row in the CSV becomes a row in the spreadsheet, and columns are automatically detected. The resulting .xlsx file opens natively in Excel, Numbers, or any spreadsheet application.

Upload your CSV file

Click the upload area or drag your .csv file onto the page.

Convert to Excel

The server parses the CSV and writes it into an .xlsx workbook. Column detection is automatic.

Download the Excel file

Save the .xlsx file and open it in Excel, Google Sheets, or LibreOffice Calc.

Frequently asked questions

Will formulas in my CSV be converted?

CSV files do not contain formulas; they store raw values only. The Excel output will contain those same values as static cell data.

What delimiter does the converter expect?

The converter handles standard comma-delimited CSV. If your file uses a semicolon or tab as the delimiter, results may vary.

Does the Excel file get any formatting?

The output is a clean .xlsx file with your data in the first sheet. No automatic formatting or styles are applied, so you start with a neutral spreadsheet.

Can I convert multiple CSV files at once?

Upload one file at a time. Each CSV produces a separate .xlsx file.

What if my CSV has special characters or accents?

The converter expects UTF-8 encoded CSVs. Files saved with other encodings (such as Windows-1252) may show garbled characters; resave the CSV as UTF-8 first if needed.
