How to convert to ZIP
ZIP is the most widely supported archive format for compressing and bundling files. Zipping files reduces their total size for faster email attachments and uploads, and combines multiple files into a single archive that is easier to share. ZIP archives are natively supported on Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android without any additional software.
BoltConverter compresses your files into a ZIP archive. You can upload multiple files and they will be bundled into one archive. The ZIP format uses DEFLATE compression, which works well for most file types. Already-compressed files like JPG, MP4, and ZIP will show little size reduction, while text files, CSVs, and uncompressed documents typically compress significantly.

Click the upload area or drag one or more files onto the page. Multiple files will be combined into one ZIP archive.

Frequently asked questions
How much will my files compress?
Compression ratio depends on the file type. Text files, CSV, HTML, and uncompressed documents often compress by 50-80%. Already-compressed files like JPG, MP3, MP4, and existing ZIP archives compress very little.
Can I password-protect the ZIP?
Password-protected ZIP creation is not currently available in this tool. For encrypted archives, consider using 7-Zip on your desktop to add AES-256 encryption.
Is there a file size limit?
Individual files and total upload sizes up to 100 MB are supported.
Can I zip a folder with subfolders?
This converter handles individual files. To zip a folder structure with subfolders, use your operating system's built-in compression (right-click > Compress on macOS, or right-click > Send to > Compressed folder on Windows).
Will the ZIP format work on macOS and Linux?
Yes. ZIP is natively supported on all major operating systems. macOS can open ZIP files with a double-click; Linux can use the built-in unzip command.
