How to convert IMAGE to PNG
PNG (Portable Network Graphics) is a lossless image format that preserves every pixel of the original without compression artifacts. Unlike JPG, PNG supports a full alpha transparency channel, making it the standard choice for logos, icons, screenshots, and any image where a transparent or precise background matters. Converting your image to PNG is the right move when image quality must not degrade and when transparency needs to be preserved.
BoltConverter converts images to PNG entirely inside your browser using WebAssembly. Your files never leave your device. The converter accepts common input formats including JPG, HEIC, WEBP, GIF, and BMP and produces a losslessly compressed PNG output.

Frequently asked questions
Will converting a JPG to PNG improve image quality?
No. Converting a JPG to PNG stops any further quality degradation from re-saving, but it cannot recover detail lost when the original JPG was created. The PNG will be lossless from this point forward.
Are my files uploaded to the internet?
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser using WebAssembly. Your images never leave your device.
Why is the PNG file larger than the original JPG?
JPG uses lossy compression to keep file sizes small at the cost of some quality. PNG uses lossless compression, which preserves every pixel but results in larger files, especially for photos.
Does PNG support transparency?
Yes. PNG fully supports an alpha channel for transparency. If your source image has transparent areas and uses a format that also supports transparency (like WebP or GIF), they will be preserved in the PNG output.
What image formats can I convert to PNG?
BoltConverter accepts JPG, JPEG, WEBP, GIF, BMP, HEIC, and most other common image formats as input. HEIC from iPhones is supported via WebAssembly decoding.
