How to convert FIGMA to PSD

Figma stores designs in its own cloud format and exports to PNG, SVG, or PDF natively, but it has no direct PSD export. PSD (Photoshop Document) is the native format used by Adobe Photoshop and many production workflows that require layered, editable files compatible with Adobe's ecosystem. Converting Figma to PSD is typically a two-step process: export from Figma in an intermediate format, then convert or reconstruct the PSD structure.

This tool guides you through the conversion path and processes any intermediate files locally in your browser where possible. Your design assets stay private since nothing is uploaded to an external server during browser-based processing.

Export your Figma design

In Figma, select the frame or component you want. Use File > Export and choose PNG or SVG for each layer or the full frame. For layered PSD output, exporting each layer as a separate PNG preserves the most structure.

Upload the exported files

Drop your exported PNG or SVG files into the converter. The tool will reconstruct PSD layer structure from what you provide.

Configure layer settings

Map each uploaded file to a layer name and set the blend mode and opacity if your Figma design uses non-default layer settings.

Download the PSD

Click Download to save the .psd file. Open it in Photoshop or any PSD-compatible application to continue editing.

Frequently asked questions

Why does Figma not export PSD directly?

Figma uses its own vector-based format and targets open standards (SVG, PNG) rather than proprietary Adobe formats. PSD is a closed, complex format that Figma has not implemented as an export target.

Will the PSD be fully editable with vector layers?

It depends on the source. If you export individual layers as SVG and convert them, vector smart objects can be preserved. Exporting as PNG produces raster layers that are not re-editable as vectors.

Is there a plugin that exports PSD directly from Figma?

There are several third-party Figma plugins that attempt PSD export. Results vary in quality, particularly for complex auto-layout components and advanced effects.

Are my design files uploaded to a server?

No. Processing happens in your browser. Your files stay on your device.

What if I just need to hand off to a Photoshop user?

Often a high-resolution PNG export from Figma plus a shared Figma link is a more practical handoff. PSD conversion is most useful when the Photoshop user needs to make edits rather than just reference the design.
